Another day, another landout.

But despite landing out after the first leg of my task I could hold my head is a little higher; approximately eighteen other people also landed out due to deteriorating weather conditions and the cloud base descending from a heady 3,200 feet above ground to 2,200 feet near the first turn point.
It was nice to have the company of three others in the same field as my and even better to see the same tug pilot land to retrieve us.

Owen was only too pleased to have landed.
After Tuesdays fiasco and my coming worst than last due to an airspace infringement I am clawing my way not back up the ladder, but back on the ladder...

First flying day of the Lashan Regional Comp

They say a picture paints a thousand words
Poor Rod, who offered to retrieve me if (when) I land out, huddled (by himself) under my wing while it rained and hailed!
However it brightened up enough to launch
Which was followed sometime later by landing in yet another field followed by a DG flown by Mark Adams.
Luckily the field was great and we both got an aerotow retrieve so home to Lasham for a pint of Guiness. Yum.
As for the flying??
Anyone for tennis?
I must try harder...

Black Wednesday.

It's not really all that black, in fact its a lovely blue sky outside and promising to be a rather good day for flying.
My 'black' bit is due to the garage that removed the tow bar and welded up my nearly new car (the tow bar ripped out of the chassis) still haven't put on a replacement.
Having a competition looming and now tow car at present is just another little thing that will stress me out, and which I really don't need.
Hopefully it will be resolved today........There's just so much to orginise!

A quick chat.

I started to make a list of all the things I should (and shouldn't) be dong when flying, whether it's for a cross country bimble or to compete against someone. I then convinced myself to take said list with me when flying. On reflection and after having a chat with Liz S I decided to replace the list with a hand written note on the back of my right hand which reads: "Remember what Liz said and do it!"

Lasham regionals.

Now only five days until the start of the regional competition. Not a thing of joy but a source of trepidation and worry.
My 'racing philosophy' is going to be; "just fly, do your best and if you don't land out its going to be such a bonus".

A few good and great people are on standby to retrieve me which is such a weight off my mind.
As Marty Feldman says in 'Young Frankenstein', "Could be worse......Could be raining"

Ummm.

A windy day and one in which I shouldn't have stopped to thermal into wind. I've a lot to learn and it's as frustrating as hell. Why didn't I go further and faster?
The frustration is increased when you see so many good pilots doing big tasks and SO fast.
I Guess the 'up side' is that every time I fly I really do learn a little.
I'll just have to fly more.................

Lasham Regional Competition

Why am I doing this? Lasham regionals are now 8 days away and I'm loosing sleep over it.
It's the first competition I've entered and I'm feeling a little out of my depth.

 OK- maybe drowning........
